Description

An Andy Warhol style painting of Monty Oum.

Time for some Context:

In my studio art class, our course final for the year was to make a painting based off of any masterpiece that has been displayed in a well know museum, like the Smithsonian American Art Museum, The National Portrait Gallery, etc. We were asigned to use the ceiling tiles as our canvases so that they'd be displayed in the room. When I was given the assignment, I knew that I wanted to do something related to Monty. And so, this is the end result of that.

I spent about 3 hours of class time working on this over the course of last week. In all honesty, I wish I had more time to work on this (especially since I had work on this by myself because of my partner being absent from class all last week). I already have my own long laundry list of self criticism on this, but I'd especially appreciate feedback on this one. With the amount of time I had, I think I've put the most heart and soul into this.

Rest in Peace Monty, I'll keep moving forward.

The two things that mostly stand out to me between this and Andy's work is that Andy's hair is much more defined. In this one, it looks straight black without any definition. The final thing thing that gnaws at me is his teeth, they look crooked and bucktooth. The shadowing I particularly like, though from my incredibly unprofessional POV the shadow of the nose seems to be a bit off from what I am able to tell.
